THE OWNERS

CHRIS QUARTERMAINE

Chris has worked in the farming field for most of his life and enjoys the lifestyle and community. Chris owns and leases 6000 acres of farmland (about 2430 Hectares) with 70% crop and 30% pasture (feed for sheep). Crops grown include: Wheat, Barley, Canola, Lupins. Chris has 2500 ewes (female sheep) for prime lamb production, which are also shorn for wool. Chris has been farming for the last 19 years, including seasonal contract shearing for 6 years and helping his parents with the farm as a young man.

Chris enjoys getting together with friends for an occasional fox shoot with his favourite browning shotgun or at other times, the challenge of whistling up a fox and using his single shot Walther .22 hornet. There is also a 200 yard shooting range on the property to sight in rifles, and sometimes just for a break.

Chris is a well respected local community member, due to his honest and approachable manner, and time he puts into the community, such as being a volunteer fire fighter, as the local Chief Fire Control Officer – a very demanding and specialised role (see the FESA website for information on WA Fire and Emergency Services).
