The INCH rifle Action... (C.G ‘‘INCH’’)

Description

The INCH rifle action has a massive cylindrical receiver with the bolt/receiver locking situated at the rear. The dimensions coupled with the innovative locking system, allow the incorporation of dual minimum tolerance barrel location diameters: one at the front of the exceptionally long threaded section, and one behind. The threads serve solely for tightening the barrel down onto the internal diaphragm and external shoulder, not centralisation. The two close-toleranced registers allow barrel changing with no zero shift

An option of quick barrel interchange ability is included in the specification.

The bolt head is of conical silhouette, fitting very closely indeed into a corresponding female cone in the rear of the barrel. Because of the absence of forward lug recesses, the feeding of the cartridge into the chamber is without any hindrance whatsoever.

The design has been especially conceived to allow use the Flexibed system - the action will drop straight into any Millenium stock without further ado. Alternatively a classic Devcon or similar bedding interface may be employed, with the rear edge of the receiver easily fulfilling the function of recoil lug, due to the massive area available. This in turn means that neither potentially weakening nor distortion of the action will occur due to the addition of a more traditional recoil lug amidships.

Bolt locking is assured by 3 rear locking lugs forming a triangle section with rounded apexes, these lodging into corresponding female recesses in the action. This system assuring a security, section and area of engagement hitherto unseen in a small arm action. The rear lugs system allow a considerable reduction of bolt travel (85mm), very important point, as the bolt motion is thus not impaired by the cheek piece.

The bolt body also possesses the greatest section thicknesses yet seen in such an arm. This, together with the dimensions of the receiver mentioned above, results in a rigidity as yet unequalled in a small calibre Match action.

The percussion system (patent C.G.) using Belleville washers, has been further rethought as well as lightened, by a reduction in diameter, resulting in a new generation of the genre, as well as allowing a much thicker section within the bolt body. This results in a faster lock time by a significant reduction of inertia.

The trigger used is the completely new C.G 'Universal', now manufactured by X-Treme Shooting Products in USA. This trigger system, due to a new modular design, can be fitted to virtually all match actions, including Remington 700 series, in the world. The 9 adjustments covering practically all the possibilities needed for an extended range of weights of pull - be they single or 2 stage. Final adjustments are from under the action, not requiring the removal from the stock. All adjustment screws being equipped with thread brakes resulting in permanent settings.

The action is intentionally not fitted with an ejector as Target MR, F class and Benchrest shooters habitually remove their empties manually to avoid cases falling into the dirt of the range. This allows in an uncluttered bolt head without any weakening slots of any kind, and permits the use of a generous sized extractor.
